"I like being on a full stomach because it feels good. I grew up on stories about people starving to death, or dying from malnutrition-related illnesses. I’m constantly on the lookout for hunger, for the next meal, for signs of danger. But I also want to enjoy being full right now. Weirdly, it’s much easier to carry the burden of this fear, to be a cynic and a doomer and re-enact scenes of my parents’ and grandparents’ trauma in my head, than to believe that I’m currently full and will be full again in just a few hours." - D.
